Forts + Aunt Mel

Ivory builds her & Micah a fort and expresses her excitement over Aunt Mel's soon arrival.
We thoroughly enjoyed Melissa's spontaneous weekend visit last week.  The kids sure do love their Aunt Mel!

And I was excited to have someone else enjoy the pleasure of looking at Ivory's beloved shapes book with her...for the 5,106th time...or something like that.
They say this repitition is good for kids, but do they say what it does to the mental health of the parents?  Nah, it's really not that bad.

Unfortunately we had already planned the kids physicals for the Monday Aunt Mel was here and couldn't cancel them (weekend...and I'd already re-scheduled twice!).  So, Aunt Mel & daddy met us over in panama for the tail end of the physicals and we all enjoyed a trip to Pizza Hut!
Micah loves laying nakey on the exam table and always starts smiling and kicking like crazy when I lay him down.  He's such a sweet boy for the doctor.  I'm sure Ivory's Elmo made him feel even better this visit. ;)  Ivory kept saying, "hurt?  hurt?"  I assured her she wouldn't get hurt (shot).  Then she said, "Hurt Micah?"  But it wasn't out of concern, she was perfectly okay with passing the hurt onto him (he didn't get a shot either, though).  So sympathetic.
We love our doctor!  She's very gracious, friendly, positive, and supportive. I love that she doesn't immediately push antibiotics/drugs when unnecessary and is very supportive of nursing.  She has a nursing mom's/newborn room in both offices and a lacation consultant available.  We're especially excited about the new system she's developed with separate offices for sick patients and well check-ups.  Yay for germ separation! =)
We also love her physican's assistant, Katie who we see when the kids are sick or the doctor's unavailable.  She's great with the kids and is very cheery.  We visited her today because poor little Micah Man is sick.  He's on a mild antibiotic now for fluid in the ear and a raw throat.  She said he's not too bad though and since he's never been on antibiotics before a very mild strength prescription should knock it out quickly.

They always remember the kids and compliment their intelligence and cuteness--can't go wrong with that, eh?  They know how to win this momma over for sure! =)

Otherwise the kids are healthy and growing like weeds!  Ivory weighs 27 pounds and is somewhat tall for her age.  Micah weighs 13lbs. 12 oz. and is very tall for his age, takes after Grandaddy B.  He rolls a lot now, wiggles and squirms his way all over the place, arches his back, loves standing and even taking a few steps when we hold his hands, and he now responds to his name.  He reaches for things and tracks.  It's so fun watching him respond with huge smiles when his big sister walks up to him and says, "HI MICAH!!!"  She's always so happy to check on him and talk with him.  So. precious.

Ivory talks like crazy and is speaking in sentences more and more.  Today she looks at me and says, "I want cheese!"  Now to work on adding please...Another time I was on the phone and glanced over to see her covering Micah with blue blankie (he was in his bouncer with a pillow she had tucked next to him).  I quickly told her she needed to remove the blanket (it's crochet so it does have big breathable holes--hallelujah) and she replies, "I'm making a fort!"  I don't know what was cuter, how clearly she stated that or the fact that she was making a fort for her little brother.  She also *loves* signing and catches on so quickly.  She sings full songs now, is memorizing more Scriptures, loves quoting John 3:16 at bedtime, and tells God who/what she's thankful for before falling asleep.  She's crazy fun!  A post of all her current favorites is coming soon.

Gotta run...

both kids asleep + husband home = rare moment these days
