Recent Sewing Projects for Micah

Coordinating burp cloth for him to spit up all over...

Lovin the pj footie material I found for the bottom of shoes. Just need to look for some in different, darker colors.

Want to make a coordinating black shirt & try my hand at a little cap. In the process of making Ivory & coordinating outfit. Just have to add a ruffle to the pants & a scotty dog to the shirt!
I love Iron-ons Yes, I got the 9 & 7 backwards. Think I might add "call me" underneath the digits.

Little man outfit gift from our friend Jennifer. Thinking I might use this as a pattern for some more overallish outfits.
I cut out some dark brown cordurouy pants (will match cord shoes)--just need to sew them! I actually used a pattern for those. The rest of these were mostly made up (the shoes came from a pattern but 2 pairs were majorly improvised). I used scraps of fabric for most items. All the plaid you see above came from pre-cut squares of fabric that was given to me. I've gotten so much use out of those little squares! The onesies came in a pack of 5 for $4/5 on sale at Target. The appliques were left over from previous projects. So, each onesie cost apx $1 to make. To me, half the fun of sewing is seeing how creative I can be with materials I already have on hand. I especially love recycling our old clothing. I made a white t-shirt out of one of my old shirts that had some holes at the bottom. Just have to finish the collar, applique & wa-la shirt x2. I think I orginally bought that shirt for under $5. 2 shirts for $5--not bad.
What are some of the best recycable projects you have made? Any tips?

Dinner with Friends

Last week our friends Melissa & Sabian came over with their adorable little one, Addie. We enjoyed our time of fellowship & Ivory & Addie had fun playing together. Ivory is very proud that she can say Addie's name.

99

Sunday I decided to write down all the words that Ivory says that are pretty clear & used correctly in context (most of the time at least) and...yes, 99. She can say 99 words! That's not even counting the words that only Mom understands & her sign words. Yes, proud mom moment. Just had to share!!! Quite a few words she signs & says. She also understands SO much. Yes, Mom & Dad have to watch what they say. She can follow basic two/three-step instructions such as, "Ivory, please pick up that piece of trash over there (point) and put it in the trash in the kitchen." She *loves* helping & is quite good at cleaning up after herself & rushes to help pick things up when Mommy drops them. As she hands them to me she says, "Tank you" because she's so used to me saying that. :-) Glad I've been modeling something positive there!

She loves not only dancing now, but also singing. She also talks constantly using her hands for emphasis as she shakes them at me after sharing an entire paragraph with me!

Dancing Queen

This is the dancenest girl. She dances her way through Sunday morning worship. Turn on a radio, CD or ipod & she's going to town. She even dances to the sound of my sewing machine. Cassie says there must be music in her head because sometimes she dances out of nowhere. She boogies up & boogies down and likes to move it move it.

Christmas Video - Take 2

We spent Christmas day with Jason's family. We always have fun there and they make it so special. We were all thoroughly spoiled and came away with lots of goods! We celebrated with presents, stockings & Christmas dinner when we arrived in the afternoon Christmas day. Jason's parents, sister Melissa, & brother Matthew were there. Allison & her family joined us on Sunday evening where we enjoyed the festivities all over again as they dove into their gifts, stockings & Christmas dinner leftovers!

Christmas Video

So...I'm finally posting video from Christmas.

Christmas with our Pastor's family. So glad Christina & Nate could make it in for the festivities!

Fun Family Friday

Friday was a simple day at home--but special as a family. Jason woke up with Ivory and let me sleep in (yay!). I woke up to a happy girl, the smell of bacon & clean dishes. My husband is amazing. Jason also spent quite a bit of time with us girls and we loved it!
