4th of July Celebrations

Yes I know this is a little late in coming...

Daddy had off on the 4th (hooray!).  We had big plans of a family day.  Well, the kids woke up crabby and I was a wreck.  Jason staved off the kids while I pulled my emotional self together and then took a nap.  After we all had some rest and food we pulled ourselves together and did end up with a really nice family evening at the beach where we watched fireworks.    + Korban loved the fireworks and didn't act scared even one bit.  The kids loved the fireworks being set off all around us as much as they did the big ones put on by the city.  We saw some church friends and a beautiful sunset.
The awed expressions as they watched firecrackers set off all around us.  Daddy had to stand with Korban to keep him happy as he was super sleepy.  So these two were my fireworks-watching-snuggle-buddies.  I wasn't sure how Micah would do as he's easily scared by loud noises but he loved them...as long as Mom was close by to snuggle him.  Mom didn't mind even a tiny bit.

Our town had a delayed 4th of July celebration on Friday, July 6th.  While the circumstances were unfortunate (the man who sets off the fireworks passed away unexpectedly) we were grateful for a chance to celebrate America twice.  The kids were thrilled that they could see fireworks again!  We arrived a little early so the kids could run out some of their energy and enjoy the playground. Ivory is becoming more coordinated and a little braver as she attempts to climb + explore a little higher and a littler further. Micah must take his matchbox cars *everywhere.*  They're especially fun to send down slides. Korban love! The kids loved seeing Joni, Addie + her parents, and Bobo + family.
We enjoy our tradition of watching fireworks with Addie, Melissa, Sabian, MikeMike, Bobo + Cassie.  The kids especially love the glow bracelets Melissa always thoughtfully brings to share.  Grateful to live in this country.  Mostly grateful we can worship boldly without fear of physical persecution.  We are awfully blessed.

Teen Hangout

We are in a re-evaluation period of how we do ministry.  That has involved a complete schedule change for Jason and has brought us to do more low key hangout events in our home.  It's been so fun to do more ministry alongside my husband in our home with our children present.  The kids love hanging with the teens and I love being able to be present without having to leave the kids and find a sitter.

We invited some middle schoolers over for snacks + a movie 2 weeks ago.  We also had ourselves a mini dance party...exciting times.

Last week we had some high schoolers over to bake cookies + drink homemade hot chocolate (my first time making it--turned out rich + delish if I do say so myself).

Bonfire

Friday night we had another bonfire night with a few teenagers.  The kids loved playing ball and hide 'n seek as well as eating hot dogs + s'mores.

The kids were too busy playing to pose for pictures...hence the blurs.
We had a great time!

Luncheon with Friends

Sadly, Nina had to leave today.  But, we did enjoy a great lunch with her and the family on Thursday.

We brought some cookies with us.  Thanks Joni for helping us!
Tried out this great flourless peanut butter chocolate chip cookies recipe for Jason.  SUPER easy & delish.

We also made some giant mini m&m cookies.  They also tasted great!

Lunch with Nina, Cassie, MikeMike, Bobo, Papa, Meme, Grandma, Pa, Michael, Daddy, Ivory, Micah + Korban. Playing with the girls.
Micah was happy with a ball, play dough + color crayons.  Ivory enjoyed a nature walk with Meme + picked some berries.

Korban was thrilled with the whole visit.  I love this sweet, happy little boy.  Did I mention Wednesday night he slept 8 hours straight?  10pm to 6am.  This Mom can't remember the last time she slept that long.  Heavenly.

Beach Success

Tried again to visit the beach this week: SUCCESS!! Loved it so much we returned for a second visit 2 days later.

Monday's trip we brought our friend Grace and met Dad & the teenagers at the beach.

Wednesday's trip we brough our friend Joni with us and I actually took some pictures of the kids on the beach! Yes, finally remembering my camera again.

So humid.

Using our tent we got at Christmas. It's wonderful!

The water is gorgeous right now--so clear and perfect for the kids to play in. We saw lots of fish, mullet jumping, and dolphins! Glad the sharks decided to stay hidden...

Ivory loving some shell finds

Micah acting like a dog in the sand

Unimpressed that Mom wants a picture

Such gorgeous weather for the beach--so grateful we've been able to enjoy it twice this week! We might just have to go back for more!
